about our coffee
Our coffee beans are privately-roasted in Brewer, Maine. We serve two roasts in the café – espresso (the heart of our coffee drinks) and medium roast for our brewed coffee. Both are available in caffeinated and decaf.
Espresso Roast: 100% Arabica blend of Sumatra and Colombia - bold yet smooth and as a dark espresso roast is lower in caffeine. Our Sumatra comes from the North Sumatra province of Indonesia, one of the largest coffee producing regions on the island with nearly all family-owned farms. The coffee is grown at 3,000 ft and processed by wet-hull. Our Colombia Excelso comes from a small family-owned farms in the Colombian coffee triangle. The coffee there is grown at 4,000 ft. and processed by micro-wet mills and dried in solar dryers.
Medium Roast: 100% Arabica blend of Costa Rica & Sumatra – smooth and sweet. The CoopeTarrazu of Los Santos Tarrazu, Costa Rica assists more than 2,600 small-farm members with technical assistance and affordable fertilizers. The coffee is grown at 4,000 ft and is fully washed. The Coop also provides consistent milling, quality, evaluation and exporting.
